We've built internal tools, booking systems, multi-tenant SaaS platforms and customer-facing portals on Laravel. It gives us Octane when an app needs raw speed, Horizon for managing queues, and Sanctum or Passport for authentication. For most of what comes up after that, the ecosystem already has a well-worn answer.
What is Laravel?
Laravel has been the most widely used PHP framework for years. Taylor Otwell released it in 2011; today it runs everything from one-page business sites to platforms serving millions of requests a day. Forge, Envoyer and Vapor are all built on it. So is most of what we've shipped over the past decade.
Eloquent, its ORM, lets you write expressive database queries instead of raw SQL
Authentication, authorisation and API tokens are built in, not bolted on
A queue system takes the slow work off the request: sending email, processing files, calling third-party APIs
First-party packages cover the common needs, including Cashier for payments, Scout for search and Reverb for real-time
The ecosystem is huge, with thousands of community packages and long-term support that's genuinely maintained
